Luke 2:36-40 - Luca Sueri
What a welcome into the temple for a month old baby!
As Joseph and Mary are still trying to process what just happened with Simeon, another prophet comes up to them and starts giving thanks to God for their baby.
What an odd thing to witness it must have been from the outside! And what an amazing example of godliness Anna is for us. There are at least two things that we can learn from her:
To be in communion with God like she was - Anna is in the temple day and night, worshipping, fasting and praying. She knows that God deserves her time, her passion, her praise. Her ears and heart are open to His voice, and He points her to the baby that will save the world.
To share the good news with no shame like she does - Anna is so overjoyed by seeing God’s promised Saviour in the flesh, that she just can’t keep it in. Everyone in her vicinity that was ‘looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem’, now knows that God’s plan is in action.
As we prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birth tonight and tomorrow, let’s strive to be like Anna by committing our time and energy to praising God and by sharing this life-changing news with those around us.
It truly is the kind of news that should make us jump up and down in awe of our amazing God!
