God’s redemption plan

EXODUS 2:23-25 | SIMON DEWAR

___

Let’s look at the four things God does in response (v24,25) to the Israelites cry out for help (v23).

1. He hears.  When God children’s cry out to Him, He hears them (Psalm 34: 17).

2. He remembers. His promises through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob of blessing and deliverance of His people (Gen 15: 13,14), and now, we know Gods promises through Christ Jesus (2 Cor 1:20).

3. He Sees. God sees the oppression of his people. In Exodus Chapter 1 it tells of how the Israelites were slaves to a Pharaoh who hated them, trying to wipe them out, God sees all that is happening to them. Sometimes we feel God doesn’t really see us in our circumstances.

4 He knows. He knows their present weakness, knows their future failings (Ex 32:8) and knows His plan for them. Earlier in Chapter 2 we see Gods plans for the Israelites, through Moses, are in motion. He saved Moses from the Nile, put him in Pharaohs household, gives him refuge in Midian, and soon God will speak to Moses in the burning bush. God knows, shows concern, and is on the case!

So, when we cry out to God for help, we learn from these verses Gods response: He hears, He remembers, He sees, and He knows. He sees us; all that is behind us, our present circumstances, and all that is to come. He knows us; our sins, our weaknesses, He knows his plans for us. So, our confidence is not inward, in ourselves, but is outward, in God. Today, would encourage you to read/meditate on the Hymn ‘What a Friend we have in Jesus’. God remembers and is delivering a plan of redemption for His people; in all that we do ‘Take it to the Lord in prayer’.
