With much excitement, I joined the staff team in Oct 2021 to develop a Women’s Ministry.
As I am new to the church, my primary aim in the first three months was to get to know the church and to meet as many women as I could in that time (still more to meet), while also thinking through how to shape the ministry and create spaces for women to interact with one another.
With the help of Gill, Rhoda, and others, we ran a delightful Christmas wreath-making event in December, with tremendous support from the church and 41 women in attendance.
In praying about developing the ministry, the Lord has put Romans 15.4-5 on my heart as the theme verse for this ministry. My prayer is that we will encourage one another as we meet for fellowship and be equipped to endure as believers through an ever-increasing understanding of God’s Word. My hope is to design a sustainable model that will a) slot naturally into the life and rhythm of the church; b) become an enduring part of church activity; and c) draw women of all ages and stages, as per the Titus 2 model of women engaging with women.
In Spring 2022, we will run a ‘trial’ monthly Bible study series in the book of Colossians to encourage women growing with women around the Word and I also plan to coordinate a Spring event. This will then be evaluated in the summer with the aim of running a programme from Sept-May 2022-2023. I am eager to involve as many women as possible and for us all to benefit from the many gifts, experiences and talents that comprise this amazing group of women internally, as well as women externally
